Going Underground

I should be packing.

I should, but I’m mostly done and I need a break. All the little last bits are driving me a bit batty.

Oh? Where am I going? Well, here:

As predicted, the boy got a job immediately after I went on hiatus. Out of the country. As usual. One of the assistants is keeping a blog while they’re down there. If you’re curious you can go read about the film here.

Anyway, that’s where I’ll be as of Tuesday. I’m going to stop in Houston for a few days before. I mean I have to stop there no matter what. But instead of the 3 hour layover in the airport, I’m going to kick it with the ‘rents. Much better planning that way. And better food.

Ok. I’ve got to get back to making playlists for the iPod and winding balls of yarn for projects I’m taking with me. I’ll try to post while I’m there, but I’ll be using J’s computer or posting from an internet cafe. So we’ll see.

Hasta la vista my lovelies!

(oh, and for those of you who might want to see what I’ve really been up to since I’ve been on hiatus go to Yarnhoar)

update: will someone please remember to remind me that my upstairs neighbor Stampy McDrunkypants hates the Runaways (specifically “Cherry Bomb”)? I thought it would be Eminem’s “Lose Yourself” with the volume turned up to earsplitting (bass all the way to 10, speakers turned toward the ceiling…) I thought it would be some really loud white boy rap that sent him over the edge, but it turns out that it’s going to be slutty teenaged girl groups instead.

Take a memo Stampy: continue ordering up the hookers so they can play naked roller derby while you play Alicia Keys so fucking loud that I can’t hear my tv or concentrate on my knitting
and it’s gonna be Lita Ford and Joan Jett all day every day.

Not that that’s a bad thing. For me…

Maybe it’s not just the Runaways. Maybe you should experiment more to find out what he really hates up there. I mean, how do you know not to play Neil Diamond’s “America” on repeat one if he doesn’t stomp his dissatisfaction to you? Or, you know, the West Side Story soundtrack. “I Feel Pretty” is really catchy.

I’ve got some Iron Maiden and old Ozzy I can send you if you want. Also: check out 100 Records (link at my site) for some obscure kick ass punk tunes…all FREE! Have fun!

I have mariachi-loving neighbors across the street from me, so I usually like to blast my own crap just to show them how annoying it is to have to listen to music they don’t like. They really hate: Abba, Tom Jones, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and Kate Bush. You should see the looks I got the Saturday I listened to “Running up that hill” sixteen times.

Also, your yarnhoar pictures really made me want to learn to knit, which scares me, because I suspect I will become addicted.

I need to introduce my girls to the Runaways big time. Luckily due to Freaks & Geeks they already love early Joan Jett, but Lita is so unappreciated in this world.

So X won’t drive him nuts? I had neighbors that I didn’t like years ago, and I would leave the house and let the same side of Nebraska or the River play until I got back to sufficiently torture them. I know it worked too.

RUNAWAYS!!! I’ve spent my whole life being very patient, hoping to eventually have all of the original Runaways sign the gatefold of the first album that I’ve had since the day it came out (I was a year younger than they were when they put it out). So far I have Joan Jett and Lita Ford. Where’s my Cherie? Fine, fine, and Sandy and Jackie, too. Love ya, mean it. Me (Bonypony)

HA! Just read Lap’s comment. I used to torture my next door hiphop neighbors, who would keep me up with loud parties all night long when I worked days. I would put an 8-track into the 8-track tape player that my dad bought me, turn the speakers against their wall, and play KC and the Sunshine Band at full volume for days as I stayed with my girlfriend at her place.
